Pre Tan:

EXFOLIATE! We cannot emphasize this enough! Use a non- oily, non-abrasive exfoliant and focus on dry areas such as elbows, feet, and knees. Think of your body as a canvas- the smoother the canvas, the better the application will turn out!
Do not apply lotion, perfume, or deodorant before your application as they can act as barriers to the solution. Minimal make up can be worn (eye make up, lipstick), but avoid face make up.
Shave and/or wax the day before to allow the hair follicles to close before your session.
Wear dark, loose fitting clothing. Tight clothing can rub and affect the quality of your tan. Flip flops are a good choice for feet.
Dark swimwear or underwear are ideal to tan in. We also offer disposable (and tiny) thong panties if you prefer. Many women desire minimal tan lines and go topless. You may wear as much or as little as you are comfortable with.
Men must wear full coverage underwear or swimwear and clients under the age of 18 must also wear appropriate swimwear.

Post Tan:

Let your airbrush tan fully dry before dressing.
Give your tan time to develop evenly. Avoid water for the first few hours (no dishes, dancing in the rain, etc.) and wait at least 8 hours before showering. Do not work out or perspire until after your first shower. (2 - 4 hours for Rapid)
When you take your first shower, the cosmetic bronzer will wash off. Don't worry- this is not your tan!
Avoid taking excessively hot showers, scrubbing or exfoliating. Try to use your hand instead of a washcloth. Also, use a body wash or shower gel, these products contain less alkaline than regular bar soap.
Pat dry with a towel, no rubbing.
MOISTURIZE after your post tan shower. The more natural the moisturizer, the better it will complement your tan. Moisturize daily thereafter and if possible twice daily. Hydrated skin is essential in maintaining a long lasting tan because it slows the process of natural skin exfoliation.

Tips:

Keep in mind that your spray tan, like a UV tan, will fade as your skin naturally exfoliates. Products and activities which promote exfoliation, including shaving, will cause your tan to fade more rapidly.
Use a fresh razor to shave
A quick dip in the ocean or in a pool are ok, but long swims can strip your tan. Using a waterproof sunscreen can help.
A tan extender keeps your tan looking fresh an extra 2-3 days!

How long does the tan last?

On average, our professional application will last 5-7 days and up to 10-12 days or more with proper care. The longevity of a sunless tan depends on both the skin’s natural exfoliation process and the skincare regimen followed before and after application. It is important to keep skin moisturized after sunless tanning as dry, flaky skin will slough off faster and color will fade sooner. Your goal is to basically slow down your body’s natural exfoliation process. Hydrating by drinking plenty of water will also aid in extending the life of your tan.

Will my tan end up being orange?

Absolutely not! We carry a purple-based solution that blocks elements resulting in the undesirable orange tone that is sometimes associated with spray tans. Further, our solutions are technologically enhanced to react specifically to your skin giving you the perfect color custom to you. You will be left with all over natural looking bronzed and beautiful tan!

How long should I wait to get in the pool, ocean, or go to the spa?

We recommend avoiding these environments for the first 48 hours following your spray tan. Chlorinated pools & spas can increase the rate in which the skin exfoliates causing the tan to wear and fade rapidly.

Will the solution stain my clothes?

Some of the bronze color may rub off on clothing or bed sheets. This is most likely to happen when you get dressed immediately after tanning. All cosmetic bronzers used with our products are water-soluble. In most cases, the color will come out of clothing in the wash.

To minimize the chance of the bronzers transferring to clothing, we recommend you wear loose-fitting, darker clothes after your spray session. Try to refrain from any activity that could result in you sweating until you shower and wash off the cosmetic bronzers.

Does the tan have an odor?

Our sunless solutions use advanced DHA odor encapsulation, the newest technology in odor inhibitors, to ‘trap’ odor causing molecules commonly associated with DHA products and virtually eliminate sunless odor.

Will a sunless tan protect me from UV rays?

No. It is common to get a false sense of security when you have been spray tanned. Your skin will still burn when overexposed.

It is still necessary to apply SPF lotions or sprays when in the sun. Our solutions do NOT contain any SPF!

What is a Rapid or Express Tan?

The process for a Rapid or Express Tan is the same as a standard tan but develops in 2-4 hours based on how dark you want to be. You can shower in 2 hours for a light glow, 3 hours for medium color, and 4 hours for dark. This is a great solution for a tan on the day of an event.

Is the spray tan safe for expectant mothers?

While there are no known harmful side effects of our solutions on an expectant mother, as with any new product you may choose to use during your pregnancy, we recommend consulting with your physician prior to being spray-tanned.
